Evans Shoes is a family-owned footwear retailer with stores in Albury CBD, Echuca, Bendigo, Shepparton, Wangaratta and Wagga Wagga. Their social media presence has gone from strength to strength with over 10,500 people following them on Facebook and 4,300 on Instagram.
Similar to many of Albury CBD’s small business operators, the duo that assists Evans Shoes with their social media, Beck and Tahli, “wear many different hats.” Their day-to-day duties vary from managing the online store, selecting shoe styles which will feature in upcoming seasons, as well as creating content for social media.
“We really love social media and always aim to produce an interesting and aesthetically pleasing page for our customers. However, the content that we create for Instagram and Facebook is not always organised and smooth sailing… We are often seen running outside to take a photo before the 3pm lighting disappears,” Beck said.
Beck and Tahli’s Tips for Social Media –
- Using shadows and natural light can create striking photos. They also rarely edit their photos to show the ‘true’ colours and textures of the shoes (one less step – phew!).
- You definitely don’t need to be a model to feature on a social media page. The two “model” for Evans Shoes photos, taking photos of each other wearing the latest footwear.
- Stuck on where to take a photo? They take most of their photos on the street behind their office and the surrounding areas.
- Lastly, grab a camera and start shooting. That is all the technology they use to create professional looking photos.
