A hunger for travel sparks a new adventure – meet Noelle Quinn from Eating Travel
There’s no denying Albury-Wodonga is a beautiful part of the world. We have so much available right on our doorstep and what better way to experience it than by bike? If this sounds like you, Eating Travel is here to help.
AlburyCBD: Tell us a little about you and your business.
Noelle: I have been involved in hospitality and tourism in Albury-Wodonga for forty-plus years now. During the pandemic, my partner, Brendon, who has also been in the travel industry for more than 40 years, felt we needed to diversify our activities.
AlburyCBD: What makes Eating Travel different from competitors?
Noelle: We have a fleet of thirteen fabulous Dyson ebikes which are bookable on our website and are also bookable on Viator. They can be booked for two hours, four hours, and full-day hire to cruise the trail networks around Albury-Wodonga. By mid-December, I will also have a trailer in which I can transport seven to eight bikes and will then be scheduling some “pop-up” days where people can join a ride from Shelley to Tallangatta or Ebden to Tallangatta as compensation for tours affected by the recent flooding. We also have an eight-seat Mercedes van (seven + myself driving) which I will utilise for this.
AlburyCBD: What do you love most about what you do?
Noelle: I enjoy people generally, their stories, their enthusiasm for seeing new things, and visiting new places. My creativity and inspiration usually come from the energy I gain around people who love life and are willing to create, work hard, be kind and strengthen our regional offering across food, drink, accommodation, travel, farming production and tourism.
AlburyCBD: What would you be doing if you weren’t running Eating Travel?
Noelle: Travel is now incredibly busy which is hectic but fabulous after two very tough years during the pandemic, so I would be helping Brendon with Savenio Travel.
AlburyCBD: Why did you choose Albury CBD for your business location?
Noelle: Albury CBD is integral for tourists finding us. The planned improvements for inner-city riding will also be beneficial for us.
AlburyCBD: What are some of your favourite travel destinations?
Noelle: Locally, I adore the valleys as travel destinations so Tallangatta to Corryong, Kiewa to Mt Beauty, Wodonga to Beechworth, and anywhere around Yackandandah and Bright. Travel further afield? More of Australia, all along the Murray River (although, perhaps not this year), Tasmania and South Australia and overseas, Europe for sure – the France, Spain and Italy trilogy always offers more and more again.
AlburyCBD: Do you have any summer-time travel tips for our region?
Noelle: For summer, please may the weather warm up and the rain cease for a while! I have been enjoying some of central Victoria from the Strathbogie ranges starting at Violet Town, through to the Yarra Valley. Mornington Peninsula has plenty to offer but preferably outside of school holidays when it is heaving with people. I’d say stay close to home, explore your own backyard but be outside, try new things, and do it a little bit differently every time.
