Loving Locals in Lockdown

6 ways you can help local businesses from home

We’re living in lockdown, and while it means life gets a little slower, we can still maintain the pace with our local businesses. As many close their doors to normal trading for the umpteenth time, here are 6 ways you can help our locals stay afloat (and treat yourself in the process).

1. Take it away

Get your daily caffeine fix or morning tea with takeaway from your favourite local café. To ensure you are in and out as quick as possible, you can order with apps like Skip which let you skip the queue and prepay online. There’s a whole host of our favourites, like Mr Benedict, Citi Café, Clancy’s Food Store, Timber Café, and so many more!

2. Get it delivered

Take a break from cooking and have one of our awesome local eateries deliver right to your door. Why not try Saludos, Fresh Eats, or Yuu Sushi?

Or treat someone you love to a special gift, like delicious snacks from Monumental Cakes, gorgeous candles from Milkshake Candle, or a fresh bouquet of flowers from Flowers in the Lane or The Real Florist.

3. Vouch for the future

As all hairdressers and beauty salons close their doors fully, you can still show your support by buying a voucher for your next appointment. Many local salons are also selling their beauty products online or via phone, like Fashion Fingers, Basq, The Parlour on Olive, and Bliss.

Or why not choose an AlburyCBD gift card to spend at 70+ local stores? You can purchase one online at Flowers Naturally.

4. Have a virtual consult

Many of our service-based businesses are taking their face-to-face bookings online, so you can still reap the benefits from the comfort of your own home.

Check out the At-Home library of Self Pilates, Zoom consultations with Luxe Skin Clinic, live online readings from The Oracle Shop, Telehealth appointments with Kate Johnson Osteo and member workouts via Zoom through F45.

5. Shop online locally

Take your shopping cart online but keep the search local. Get some fresh threads from Fever, stock up on your eco products from Earth to Life, indulge that inner muso with All Music, or spoil the kids with new toys from Who What Why.

6. Share the love

Show your favourite businesses they have your support with a like, comment or share on their social posts. You can also leave them a nice review on Google or recommend them to your friends – every little bit counts.
